The problem with the genealogies aren't that they equal to six thousand years, the problem lies with the idea that Adam and his children came with in a few weeks of the last day of creation. Nothing in the bible puts a time line between the end of creation and the exodus of man from the garden. Adam and Eve could have only been there a week, but again because their is no time line they could have been in the garden the billions of years needed for evolution to happen.
That ignores the clear teaching that death came through Adam. Evolution depends on death.
Evolution is about who reproduces most successfully, not who lives longest.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
