Evolution is about who reproduces most successfully, not who lives longest.

Hard to reproduce if you're dead. The fact that not everything lives to reproduce was one of Darwin's observations which led to toe.

Bacteria and viruses are the primary agents of evolution for most organisms.  Gene mutations are also a significant agent.  

All animals are essentially worms encased in specialized bodies.  The core is the intestinal tract, which is the worm.  The outer body exists for the benefit of the worm.
