The problem lies in the time line between now and the genealogies of the Jews that lead back to Adam at best come out to 6k years.

The problem with the genealogies aren't that they equal to six thousand years, the problem lies with the idea that Adam and his children came with in a few weeks of the last day of creation. Nothing in the bible puts a time line between the end of creation and the exodus of man from the garden. Adam and Eve could have only been there a week, but again because their is no time line they could have been in the garden the billions of years needed for evolution to happen.

That's the problem with creationism altogether.  It ignores clear evidence of how old the earth is in favor of a myth.  Having accepted the myth as fact, creationists then ignore all evidence of things older than 6,000 years.

Actually biblical 'creation' make no objections to the world's age nor does it make claim to it. The only thing the bible lays claim to is the 6000 years Man with a soul (Adam's decendants.) has walked the earth out side the garden. It says nothing about the events that took place outside the garden nor how long they took.
