Saying that Jesus exists isn't an inference. Working out what his theology was and what formed the core of his message is inference - and we can debate all day long about that.

Could have made it up, could be something he heard down the pub there are a vast number of possibilities I'm sure you could think of a few dozen if you put your mind to it.

If James made it up then his text is used partially as the basis for things Jesus says - that's even more problematic an explanation because then where does the remainder come from? How did they complete the Sermon on the Mount from the 16 or so things James said - and why didn't they include everything later attributed to Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount?

You're the one who came up with the claim that Jesus didn't deliver the SotM or the other key teachings he is known for such as the Parable of the Good Samaritan. So who came up with them? Did they come up with them in 85 AD or before 49 AD?

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK

"That's disgusting. There were clean athletes out there that have had their whole careers ruined by people like Lance Armstrong who just bended thoughts to fit their circumstances. He didn't look up cheating because he wanted to stop, he wanted to justify what he was doing and to keep that continuing on." - Nicole Cooke
