When you look at the standard of what has become modern apologetics, it is essentially playing stupid word games. They have retreated so far from reality and honest debate that they will be of no interest to anyone not already brainwashed.
Moreover, many other religious institutions are becoming more shrill, pulling a No True Christian. So, on the one side you have certain groups reluctantly trying to modernize, on the other you have certain groups becoming more militant, with their message becoming wholly unpalatable to the masses. In both cases, they push themselves to extinction, either by slowly becoming more mundane and not unique apart from mainstream culture, or by ostracizing themselves because they're batshit crazy and dangerous and no sane society will put up with them.
Once the rug is pulled out from under prosperity gospel (which, IIRC is the only from of Christianity that has gained members), I think we'll see a pretty rapid decline.
