French, literally ‘touched,’ past participle of toucher .

It's normally used when someone has made a witty comeback insulting the other person after they have tried insulting them. It is not normally used to acknowledge someone's point in a debate.

I admit I used to make that mistake of using the word touche for the wrong purpose.
