The only reason to ever bother with "Hitler was Catholic", is when christians try to argue that he was secular. He was not, but the resoning behind his ideology was, largely.
Mostly it was the Great depression bringing Hitler to power. In a similar thread, months ago, I posted the results of the Reichstag elections between the years 1920 and 1932. In 1928, the NSDAP was still fringe with 2,63 percent of the votes. In 1932, they suddenly had 37 percent.

It's eerily similar to the developments we now observe in Europe. People flock to demagogues, promising easy solutions, when they fear for their future.

Its the reason to why Nazi ideology worked so well. My point was that the ideology in it self is mainly secular (particularly in its argumentation), even if it flirts with the Christian anti-Semitism. So why bother with whether individual Nazis was religious.
