Original sin? What if that was not a real 'thing?' Or rather that is not what Jesus/The bible taught?

 I think that is pretty clear.  From what I have seen of the bible it clearly states that nothing we do on our own amounts to anything unless it involves this particular god.

So? Unless your idea of a human has to be self sufficient and all 'righteousness' is derived from 'morality' this is not a problem.

I have even been to bible studies and have heard this from the teachers.

 As we are so often reminded in this forum there are 30K different expressions of Christianity, are you saying you in your study were in the "right one?"

It appears to me that they want to make good and sure that the only self esteem you have is being Christian.

The term your looking for is Humility.
If one humbles himself before God, then God will lift that person up. When He does, it will be much higher than one's own 'esteem' could ever do alone.
So again where is the hate there?

 
Also so as not to go to far off topic,  the idea that all sexual sin is equal may be true in the bible but not to the christians of today.  The present is all we really have.

I believe your zinger about "Christians today" may have been true 20 years ago, and may still ring true in some of the more radically legalistic churches, but today, today with our new pope 2/3's of Christianity right off the bat has a homosexuality is a sin like any other attitude.
