I mean some of the Christmas songs are pretty fucking awesome. I mean it's not like other non-jesus songs aren't about fictional characters. "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" "Here comes Santa Clause" Do you avoid songs with more Jesus-y connotations, or do you shrug off the religious associations for the season?I sometimes like to sing along with the first few lines of Silent Night. It just feels good when Mahalia Jackson sings it. But I tune out when they songs sing specifically about Jesus being the lord or savior.
Also if you do listen to Christmas songs, what are some of your favorites?
I also like the First Noel until it gets to the part about shepherds grazing their sheep in deep snow. That's just too ridiculous to sing.
The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.
