Wasn't Asshur the Assyrian patriarch? He would have been worshiped more as Talos than anything else later on.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

I don't ever really remember praying and meaning it. Not even when I was really young and going through the motions. I always remember feeling a bit like "am I the only one who thinks this is a bit kooky?" looking out the side of my face from the start.
I told my parents I am an atheist via email when I was a plebe at the Naval Academy. I'm still a little ashamed about that...
I never, as a person old enough to think for himself, believed in God. I don't know how I escaped my childhood with that, looking back on it. But whatever happened, I am happy it did.

I don't remember when I last prayed, but by about five years ago, I was already on this path, even though I didn't really know it at the time.
