But if you would like some good books to read you could read Paul Johnsons or Diarmaid McCullochs A history of Christianity. Or you could read various academic journals, or various respectable publications.

There is really no point in even talking to someone who takes this gospel bullshit at face value and even less to someone who thinks the "church" is telling them what really happened. Your church evolved into what it is when it gained power...first from Constantine but later emperors did far more damage (Theodosius being the primary example.)
