I can't decide my decision about the second point (social pressure), but it is no secret that I vividly agree with you on this one. Slavery was never disclosed as a topic in Muslim societies until the world stopped slavery.

You blame religion; I blame humans. A sample of killers & criminals taken worldwide, would prove to you that no matter what the religion is, what the color is, violence will be present. Concluding it in religion doesn't solve anything, really.

It's very ironic, for people to forget who gave Jihadists all the hype & weaponry in the first place.
BTW, many in the Middle East are just like the PKK; many are atheists especially the nationalistic fellas, though when wars crack it's easy for an observer to judge everybody as Muslim. Many don't believe in the faith anymore.
