Actually I do high paying seasonal work and then goof off the rest of the year. I don't need very much money. I lived one year on 3000$ and once did a 6 month trip to South America on 2000$ Nowadays I live on more, but I also spend more time in the US. I've lived in Mexico and also in the third world (Mexico is not third world!) People have such a poor concept of what the 'essentials' are. Most people in the world live on this sort of budget, most people in the world share housing in a way Americans don't, most people in the world don't own cars, most people share money within familes to get by. Most people in the world, children contribute to family income or work in a way the first world just doesn't. Americans and Europeans are terribly ignorant of the way most people live in the world and what really constitutes necessities. Personally I love the simple life. Also 90% of my time belongs to me and not to some shitty corporate overlord.
The simple life sounds very intriguing to me as long as I don't need expensive medical treatment.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
