Well yes,I suppose such a fatuous argument could have been made in the seventh century,when Islam was invented. Sharia law fitted in quite well with what passed for justice at that time. In England for example they chopped off body parts for a range of offences, such as poaching and the Church was partial to burning heretics alive.
No civilised country still maims people for any crime or kills them for moral offences, apart from crimes such as rape and murder. In fact, few civilised countries on the planet even still have the death penalty for any offence .
I guess that's the point.Islamic counties ruled by Sharia law tend to be seen by much of humanity (including me) as tribal,primitive,petty,vicious and cruel.

That was not a curse, merely an expression of outrage and frustration as far as I could tell.---it was a very silly thing to say to an atheist with a proven capacity for rational thinking
