RJ, I cannot answer your questions about the soul either.
It is a religious concept and that's why you won't find any evidence for the existence of such a thing. But the reason that I believe in it because I believe in an afterlife. As an analogy, the body is like a hardware and the soul is like a software. When the body dies, the soul continues to exist forever because it is not bound or limited by the laws of the physical world unlike the body.
