Arguments for God from a purely philosophical perspective
#12
RE: Arguments for God from a purely philosophical perspective
(January 23, 2016 at 7:36 am)BrianSoddingBoru4 Wrote: Philosophical Argument For The Non-Existence of God:

1.  God 'wants' all people to come to repentance and be saved (1 Timothy 2:4).

2.  God is all-powerful (definitional).

3.  The 'want' of an all powerful Being is equivalent to a fundamental, immutable natural law.

4.  It follows from #3 that God must disallow doubt and disbelief in furtherance of #1.

5.  If God existed, he could not logically allow human philosophers to frame the question 'Does God exist?'

6.  Human philosophers have been framing the question 'Does God exist?' ever since there have been human philosophers.

7.  Therefore, God does not exist.

Suck it, Aquinas.

Why does an all-powerful God have to exercise his power? Why can't he want something without making it happen or making himself clear to us? My girlfriend is sometimes mad at me for something and wants me to apologize and feel bad about it without actually telling me what it is she's upset about. She could tell me, but she wants me to realize my alleged wrongdoings myself and take the initiative to apologize. If my girlfriend can do it, why can't God? In this scenario, God could want humans to repent and reach salvation independently as something of a test.
