Yes, I see professed beliefs not being backed up by actions all the time. I'd put it down to cognitive dissidence/self delusion. Clearly at an instinctive level, part of them does not believe what their conscious mind believes (or perhaps wants to believe). Christians, on the whole, cling to this life as hard as any atheist while talking about it as if its a relatively zero length introduction to the real life.
Except of course those who kill themselves to try and get to heaven. They really believe. That's the kind of dangerous shit that happens when someone is all-in and isn't just playing at belief.
