adjective
adjective: rational
1.
based on or in accordance with reason or logic.
The scientific method is a great tool that has directly or indirectly brought nearly everything modernity has to offer. One of the things it is a great tool for is keeping us from deluding ourselves because of our biases and limited perceptions. Humans are prone to delusion, but we have a method for separating that from what's real. Another tool is rational skepticism (also called scientific skepticism or skeptical inquiry), which tells us that we should proportion our acceptance of a claim to the degree it is supported by evidence and reason, not anecdotes.
