If you define an atheist as someone who rejects the claim, "there is a god", then technically I am not. I don't reject it, because I don't understand the question. I would maybe accept it if I understood what it actually meant. Hence the ignostic position.

I don't accept it yet either though, so usually that's enough from a definition point of view to be an atheist.

If you don't understand the question (due to poorly defined attributes in this case and not your lack of ability to understand!) then your rejection is automatic due to the unacceptability of the claim. That makes you an ignostic atheist but just like being an a/gnostic a/theist, the positions on theism and gnosticism are independent.
