That's because this is 2016. Instead you are voting for the modern day equivalent. Trump is using the same exact tactics as Hitler to win votes.
He's scapegoating minorities, appealing to the basest instincts of the disenfranchised, not actually describing how he would implement any of his policies and convincing his voters that their country is the greatest and have a god given right to force their will on all other countries by being superior.
He ticks all the boxes of a fascist.
