It puts me in mind of the (probably) apocryphal story about Euler debating Diderot on the existence of God. Euler is said to have exclaimed (or written - accounts vary) 'e^i(pi)+1 = 0, therefore God exists. Refute that!' Diderot, to whom mathematics may as well have been High Martian, fumfummed a bit and excused himself.
