As for the fall of the Shah, I lived through that revolution, and while it was co-opted by the clerics in Janiary of 1979, it was driven by the people themselves and motivated by his cruelty, not his secularism. It started making headway in early 1978, but only after it was successful did the mullahs overthrow the Bakhtiar government.

I gladly retract what I said about you going to Pakistan. It is possible after all that you could go there and it would make no difference to your worldview. It was more just a sloppy response to your 'county line' comment, which was trash itself.
As for the 1979 revolution, whatever it was motivated by, the result speaks loud and clear.
