I usually lurk around the forum rather than posting, but I want to state my thoughts on this bathroom shit.
I am a non-medically transitioned transman. I will not even use public restrooms if I can hold it. Go into the women's bathroom, I get weird stares and some old lady yelling at me. Go into the men's bathroom, I run the chance of someone beating the shit out of me. And god forbid there's no stalls open. Do republicans honestly think we're trying to molest kids or scar them for life? We just want to fucking pee, and we already have enough stress hanging over us about the situation without this kind of shit adding to it and making it worse. I'm more often read as male than I am female. What do you think would cause more trouble, allowing me into the men's room when I have a vagina that no one is going to see, or forcing me into the women's bathroom where your young ass kid is most likely going to see me as a man and get scared? After all, transgenders tend to... I don't know.... LOOK the gender they identify as, rather than the one that aligns with whatever genitals they were born with.
Molesting a child in a bathroom is still illegal. I think republicans are just blowing all this shit out of unrealistic proportion. I remember when they were saying, "If we allow gay marriage, then we'll have to sanctify incestuous marriages too!"
