So cut "defense spending" and limit their use of 'force of arms'

That would leave them with less control of their populace though.

errrmmm EVERYONE in the USofA has the RIGHT to bear arms??? Is one reason why (imho) that the government of US have such a high defense budget. to "defend" itself against it's own people

And what makes you think that excessive Defense spending hasn't already ground the country to a halt?

My position on 'rights' is that they are as much an opiate to the masses as is religion. Fair and just use of law is an absurd concept to me It doesn't need to defend its own people... it only needs to ensure that a relatively small amount of damage is inflicted upon its infrastructure by its people.

As for why I don't think that our country has groun to a halt: I can still go to the market and buy food without worrying about rations and bread lines, and the united states dollar is worth more than most currencies
