Now we know it's just air friction. Or when we thought disease was because of demons and other bad spirits. instead of microbes? The more science discovers, the farther away, and weaker, the gods become.
That is why, in the story of the houses built on rocks or sand, i liken science to the rocks, and faith to the sand.
Author C Clark Wrote:Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
Which makes Drich ask:
What in your little mind, makes you think God has to be using 'magic?'
If God Created the Natural Universe, then would it not stand to reason He would then have also created the natural processes your 'science' is now beginning to explain?
Now don't fall of your 'rock' just yet, but ask yourself Why would God who created the natural universe create it in such away as to only be able to move through it and full fill His will by having to only be a supernatural force in or against the natural world?
Wouldn't make sense that God create the universe in such a way as to be able manipulate it or use "scientific" principle to obtain His will?
Now back to Author C Clark's quote... Even if God was using 'science' what do you think it would look like to those who witnessed it several thousand years ago? According to Clark, Magic!
So... Even if God used what we could now identify as a scientific principle to 'Part the Red Sea' it would still look like Magic to the Jews leaving Egypt. If that's the case then again what in your little mind makes you think we have to only think of God as being only 'magic?'
Now you and your house can fall off your "Rock."
If your god was using science, he'd be detectable. Pretty much anything that interacts with the physical world, i.e. natural causes, can be tested. Yet your god is supposedly supernatural. i.e. magic. If he's using natural forces to do things, and we have yet to find any connection between natural forces and gods, then you're trying to insert something into the framework that doesn't need to be there.
I guess your god isn't really all that special. He just had a head start.
Natural things can be tested, explained, and controlled. If that's what your god is doing, then that basically means we're all gods, and eventually the gap between your god and us will shrink until we're equals. Which kind of fits into the Eden story, where Yahweh didn't want people gaining knowledge because they would become like him. Independent, and not so easily controlled.
