Upon reflection, I'm pretty sure we've had 2 squirrels get zorched on the power lines right here by the house. I also recall a dozer operator when I was a kid knocking a sapling against the line behind the house and blacking out the area.
No one was hurt, but the dozer guy would not get of his machine till the light company guy got here and told him it was safe to do so.
Not too terribly far from here a light company truck was incinerated and all the men on board died (I recall it being 3, but I could be wrong) when the boom contacted a high voltage transmission line. That was many years ago, but I bet there are many around here that still remember.
I recall visiting the Tevatron site around 1980. Wonderful place for a science gnurd to spend an afternoon.
