My thoughts on new species would be something along the lines of a transitional nature that shared many charateristics of two diferent species.

So, what, like a mammal with a reptilian reproduction system, or another mammal with reptilian scales? Would you settle for a reptile with feathers, or a plant that shows features of both mosses and some vascular plants?

Transitional species abound.
