I do not oppose the death penalty on principle. The brief suffering of a criminal doesn't bother me. The unrepentant who have performed horribly cruel and heinous crimes, to my sense of justice, should forfeit their lives. But I am against the death penalty as a practical matter. I would rather see the truly wicked cheat justice than allow an innocent person be killed.
