I find it mildly amusing (in a dark "fuck 'em all" Carlinesque way) that the reason we may end up with that jackass Trump in the White House is because people are fed up with the parties and business as usual in D.C. -- while collectively ignoring the degree to which they, the citizens, share responsibility for this state of affairs through their lack of vigilance, lack of interest in substantive policy debates, and their willingness to re-elect incumbents election after election.
It's been bread and circuses in this country my entire life. And now people claim they are rebelling against the status quo by buying into the biggest political circus yet? The lack of engagement or simple self-reflection involved in this mess is astonishing. Let's face it. We're fucked.
