I prefer the blade, doesn't need reloading. I have a "small" collection of swords and knives. Some are kept in surprising places here.

A blade requires one to get up close and personal, a situation in which I prefer not to engage.  My intent is that he intruder just turn around and walk away.

Exactly. The aim (if you'll pardon the pun) is to not have to pull the trigger at all.
