Oh I'm not judging you. Just trying to understand why some people seem more afraid. When I lived in the 140,000 population...that's a fairly small city so I've just never lived anywhere big enough to be afraid in my own home or to be afraid to walk the streets at night. Yea...I use common sense. There are places I won't go wondering around in the dark, but mostly I don't think I need to have any protection.
I'm just talking about protection in my house by the way. It is extremely illegal to carry offensive weapons out in public in the UK. It's an automatic five years, sometimes more prison sentence for carrying knives out in public and the same for guns. Guns are illegal in pretty much all circumstances here though, so the same applies for having guns in your house too. For the record, I don't have guns. Shame they aren't legal here but that's just how it is.
My area is decent enough, not much crime happens here etc but you never know. And that's why it's good to protect your house. You Americans are fortunate that you guys can carry knives and guns in public though.
