Why not base forgiveness on emotion? Forgiveness is, after all, an emotion. Furthermore, who is to say that you should or should not forgive someone? Forgiveness is personal. If someone does something horrible to me and I am still tormented by that thing, why the fuck should the person who did it to me be forgiven? Why should they be free from responsibility while I still wallow in the aftermath of their transgression? Personal justice and injustice are all about emotion. There is no separating the two, nor should there be. Without emotion, there would be no basis for judgment. Without emotion, there would be no reason to give a shit what anybody does.
