The bible is a book of history, the story you are refering to was recorded to show how frequent and disturbing sexual assults were in the city; it has nothing to do with God wanting people to rape women. Rape was punishable by death.
I dug up the bible passage.
"But before they went to bed, the men of the city beset the house both young and old, all the people together.
And they called Lot, and said to him: Where are the men that came in to thee at night? bring them out hither that we may know them:
Lot went out to them, and shut the door after him, and said:
no not so, I beseech you, my brethren, do not commit this evil.
I have two daughters who as yet have not known man : I will bring them out to you, and abuse you them as it shall please you, so that you do no evil to these men, because they are come in under the shadow of my roof." - Genesis 19:4-8
You are trying to justify a passage that claims raping a woman is more of a crime then raping a man. The fact that you would try to justify such a passage sickens me.
Quote:Rape was punishable by death.
No, according to God rape is punishable by paying a fine and marrying the victim.
If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.
Deuteronomy 22:28-29
