So, the 2-stroke endgame appears to have taken shape. Seasons 7/8 will apparently only total 13 combined, from what I hear - but given that the finale will probably be split into two massive acts, that's actually starting to make sense.
My predictions:
Season 7 - 7 episodes long. The War for Westeros. Major players: King Jon, Queen Daenerys, Queen Cersei. Jon will uncover his true past. Arya will explode back into the Stark's lives. Jaime will add 'Queenslayer' to his resume. Jon and Daenerys will come to an uneasy alliance, possibly after Cersei is finished and Dany learns of the threat beyond the wall. The North finally recieves its long-awaited independence.
Season 8 - 6 episodes long. The Wall falls. The White Walkers come, and the combined forces of Westeros greet them. There is a large battle or several large battles, but the final resolution between the two sides does not come from the field, but by some other arrangement (seriously, if all we're getting at the end of this is bloody big throw-down smashup, I'll be elated but also very cross). Jon dies, but the spirit of the King in the North lives on. Or Dany dies, and Jon inherits the Iron Throne, becoming the reluctant King of Westeros.
