This was to be expected.... considering how she hid Needle, for a later use.
There was a plan: learn how to be a faceless assassin, then go on with her mission of killing the people in her list.
Remember that she went to sleep "chanting" their names.every.day.
Probably, yeah, but not the details. And she might yet have given it all up, even needle.
My point was simply that this season was not badly written or predictable. It may not have had huge plot twists, but it still had some great surprises. And those things that were predictable such as Arya, had the same set up in the books. Like now that we know Lyanna is Jons mom, I don't see people bemoaning how predictable Martin's writing was. Just the show.
