The biggest change I'd like to see in Western society is in regard to how (other) animals are treated and valued.
I'd like to see all countries become properly secular and for religious preferential treatment to end.
Of course society has many other problems which have no easy solutions.

I think it's a very vague word which has a lot of meanings. I suppose literally it's humans, being human, or the "essence" of being human. That doesn't really say anything though.
I'd equate it with kindness and compassion in some uses of the word.
