Not to bust up any hero worship you might have going on Robert...but Darwin was a product of his time...who said some shit that would make the alt-right blush, today. You won't have to look very hard to find his many opinions on "the savage races"...ranging from mild indifference to expected extermination. There's really no point in assuming, believing, or debating that he didn;t consider those savage races as lesser men, closer to apes than europeans were.
Yes, he came from an anti-slavery family...yes, he was empathetic........he was still a standard model eurocentric bigot...and not at all a "one race of men" type guy.
