Richard Pryor, Barack Obama, Denzel Washington, Magic Johnson, Will Smith, Eddie Murphy, Jamie Foxx, Cuba Gooding Jnr, Diana Ross, Sammy Davis Junior etc etc ad nauseum I guess are just a few of the exceptions to the rule then? How many of the above walked around with a loaded gun or automatic weapon?

I would care to wager some of them have been needlessly harassed by the police for no reason. In fact lets see what Richard Pryor, your first example, says about the subject:

Yeah, a guy that was only sentenced to 10 days for income tax fraud. Not like Heidi Fleiss who got 37 months or Al Capone who got 11 years. I can see how the last two were privileged.
