It could be a good warning sign that something is false if the account includes something you don't know is possible.
But there's obvious exceptions to this and even more so for a child with not so much life experience.
When I was really young it was basically a case of listening to a load of different stories in the playground then going home and asking my parents if they could be true or not.
I don't remember anything specific but unless you know what a hologram is, a description of a hologram might seem crazy, or unless you know about dinosaurs and huge ancient insects, being told they existed might seem crazy.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.
