Can't help thinking that it would make a good plot for some B-movie style Sci-fi comedy, where a mayor or sheriff from a small village is kidnapped by aliens and replaced with an imposter who can't convincingly pass themselves off as human. Everybody realises but prefers the new version anyway so doesn't say anything.
