Having moved from place to place, I have a hard time understanding why people make fun of people for speaking a different dialect. Still I try to remind myself (and other people) that you is plural so you don't really need to say you guys or y'all or youins or anything like that, just "you" is fine.
In portuguese and any other latin-derived language, the plural you is a different word, which makes it less ambiguous.
Singular: tu
Plural: vós (although, it is more common to find people using "vocês" which is then coupled with the third person plural of the verb. Vós has become deprecated to old or formal style)
In English the plural you is not different, but most people make it different anyways

Spanish has tu and voz also but I hate voz. I took 6 courses in Spanish and every single time they said "don't worry about learning voz no one uses it anyways". No I want to go back to all these people like fuck you. Contrary to popular belief in this state there are more Spanish speakers than just Mexicans. And even some Mexicans use voz. My life is a lie.
