Not that the president has much control about this anyway.  He does not get a magical sack of jobs which he can open at will.

People really only remember this when it's president's they like in the white house and the economy is bad/vice versa. Chairman of the federal reserve is probably the single person with the most power in that regard, but mostly it's just the market doing whatever the market does.

Trump is the worst on the economy in my opinion. He literally wants to start trade wars with China and Mexico, two of our largest trading partners. Protectionism is a proven failure, if there is a proven failure when it comes to economics. Your normal president doing normal president stuff has limited effects on the economy. However potentially he can have serious negative effects on it. My biggest concern about Trump that everybody seems to ignore because it's more fun to scream 'racism, nuclear weapons, racism!'
