Maybe belief has become so fetishized that the historicity of fairy tales has stolen the thunder out of their applicability and effect? If you want to find people looking more for effect, and advocating for their religions based upon the effect, I'd suggest neo-pagan reconstructionists. Many simply do not concern themselves with jot and tittle accuracy, or even the existence of their gods in actuality. I suppose you could call a fair few of them green minded ritualists, more than anything.
