Yeah, his overall reception has been pretty negative.
His fans will love his blustering, bullying, childish antics.
He wasn't trying to coerce the people who are already voting for him. The alt-right is already excited to see their ideas legitimized. His goals---according to his own campaign, were to convince moderate Republicans who are wary of voting for him. In that aim, this debate was an utter failure. His disposition was in full highlight, and he was clearly childish and easily provoked, which was the very claim he was trying to rebuke.
