I personally do think mass is pretty boring, but I come out of it with a sense of peace and a sense of closeness to God. I have been to several protestant churches where they do the whole up beat singing and clapping, cracking jokes, making slide shows, etc etc.
It's fine, but definitely not my thing and not something I come out of feeling close to God or spiritual. I prefer the Catholic mass.
