Then the north tells us that we're the retrogrades, who don't "get" racism.

Lotsa people on both sides of this discussion want to anoint themselves, y'know? But living in SoCal, I saw a funny thing happen. As acquiantances learnt I was Texan, shortly thereafter they would increase their inclusion of racial epithets into the conversation.

Were they really racist and only wanting to let it out? Or were they simply playing to their own preconceived notion of "Texan audience"? I don't know, and I can't say I much care. I reckon there's assholes and gems anywhere you go. And sometimes, the asshole is a gem, too. [/mirror-gaze]
