How the fuck is this possible, can anybody explain to me.
Over here, all indictable cases (which include rape) have no statute of limitations imposed. That means if the allegation is brought and the Gardaí and Director of Public Prosecutions feel the case is strong enough for trial the only way there's going to be no trial if a) the alleged perpetrator is dead, or b) the judge is satisfied that, after a lot of evidence is brought, usually including expert reports he commissions, the alleged perpetrator is incapable of defending themselves or of standing trial.
Seriously the situation is fucked up if there is a statute of limitiations on rape in the US.
Here's a thought...
IF it takes a woman or man waits 5 years to report a rape... it wasn't.
If someone drills you in the can and you seriously did not want to be drilled in the can, then why wait over 5 years to report it?
It is far more likely that alleged 'victim' seeks or see to further benefit from said can drilling by changing their consent status. After all how can one prove consent? Now how can one prove consent after such a long time? oh, that's right they don't say anything for more than 5 years.
So how does NY have a statute of limitations on rape? Because at one time the state law makers had a modicum of common sense.
My cousin didn't tell anyone for ~15 years, if not longer, due to her rapist being my father, and knowing that with my disability and the various surgeries (43 at Children's Hospital, Boston) and other medical expenses that weren't we needed his paycheck*, especially since it was a family unit with 3 children (myself and my two older, non-disabled brothers). Tread carefully, sport.
*I was actually used as an example for Katie Beckett/HCCSD (http://www.dhhs.nh.gov/dfa/medical/children.htm) Medicaid coverage when the rules were being written, but when they were put in place I actually didn't qualify. It took until I was ~13 years old to qualify, when they finally relaxed the rules. So, even with my parents' insurance, they still had to pay a lot because I was having at least one surgery a year, and that included followup appointments, cast changes, leg braces retrofitting/rebuilding (I could walk with full-length leg braces that locked at the knee until I was 14), etc.
EDIT: Holy fuck, I didn't see what else fuck face wrote until now. And he has the nerve to consider himself moral. What a fucking joke of a human being.
