Once again, if the picture on the "About the Author" tab on the actual site is, the author is female. Her name is "Amy," and this was just a feedsite for her blog "Makemeamary," apparently for her admiration of Mary Magdalene. I'll let you reach your own conclusions.

It goes way back. I remember seeing old paintings of Jesus on the cross with little angel cherubs were catching the blood from his hands in little chalices. I think it must go back to ancient understanding that blood is a precious bodily fluid, since they knew that if someone got injured & bled out they'd die. I think they see the blood as life force or something. Christians must have retained this idea, even though they tend to believe the soul is a real life force.

I think it actually goes back to the idea of animal sacrifice, that blood was usually used in atonement rituals, and since the Crucifixion was apparently the ultimate sacrifice, his blood must be even more powerful than those of the animals.
