Semantic is what "morally justifies" looting and riots after a black man is shot by police.
Look at how with in just a decade or so we went from "don't ask don't tell" to legalizing gay marriage. This was done in large part by playing word games.
My fear is two fold. If this culture of perpetual victim hood is allowed to deem someone a rapist without due process, then one given the right media hype we could have riots and worse loss of the idea that the citizenship is to be considered innocent until proven guilty. Take rape out of the equation and plug in something like murder. Then lets say I or the government accuses you of murder. In a society where one is guilt until proven innocent You will be remanded and detained as if you are a murder despite any innocence or guilt.
And two it can give the victim a false sense of complacency when reporting a crime. (which speaks to the OP's point)
