Islam doesn't endorse the killing of anything or anyone who oppose our views.
Muhammad was tolerant of other religions as well. Wars only began when certain groups broke the peace treaties and wanted to attack the Prophet.

If Islam and every other religion didn't exist, then yes, there may have been less killing in the world, but I think it's a different thing to say that a religion commands us to kill.
